The Sims 3 Showtime will be released on March 6th 2012 in North America, March 8th in most of Europe, and March 9th in the UK. This page is a list of confirmed features which have been released via official EA channels, through live chats and interviews with producers, from hands-on events and previews, and from Twitter accounts and forum posts of producers.

The new “singer” career is separate from bands in the Late Night expansion pack. You cannot have your “singer” perform with a band.
The new neighbourhood, Starlight Shores has a southern Californian theme
There will be one new insect, one new fish, two new ingredients, and some recipes
The new supernatural has been confirmed as the genie, but no further details have been confirmed
The “acrobat” career will include miming, juggling, and contortion
The DJ Booth allows your Sims to moonlight as a DJ, and has a new associated skill, but does not have a full career associated with it
As you advance through performance careers, you unlock new items you can put on your stages
Magician can call someone from the audience to help with a trick
After you’ve done a show, you’ll get a review. How good the review is affects the moodlet they get after performing.
You can change the colour of fire on the stage effects
You have to give your Sim a stage name, but this could be the same as your Sim’s normal name
You can do shows in a huge arena – loads of Sims will watch your Sim doing their performance! This is done very carefully so as not to affect performance on older machines, while still giving the atmosphere of a big performance.
Sims can throw objects onto the stage, like flowers, or life preservers
The audience will make requests, and meeting those requests will help you impress them, which in turn will give a better review Social features are completely optional
SimPort – you can send your Sims to perform in your friend’s game. Your friend sets up the stage, does the performance, and when your Sim returns, you get the Simoleons, and an update about how they did. Your Sim advances faster in their career this way. There are some additional things you can unlock using SimPort, including props and clothes. “Uber-set” – steampunk clothes and props for finishing all challenges. Freezer bunny chair is an unlockable item.
You can use SimPort with Facebook friends, Twitter friends, or friends from TheSims3.com. Twitter and Facebook are totally optional.
You can play a guitar while you sing
Box of danger can kill your Sim – can get swallowed by water or cement – “death by illusion” – your dead Sim will finish their show before the Grim Reaper comes to get them!
Can customise career outfit – this applies to all careers, right back to the base game.
You can woohoo in the box of mystery, and in the new photo booth
The new traits are Diva, Natural Born Performer, and Social Butterfly. If your Sim is a Natural Born Performer, this will help them with any of the Showtime careers.
Singers can perform singing telegrams, which will help their career performance
